This is a pretty bunch of heart-shaped Valentine sugar cookies I made to celebrate V-Day!
I started with a classic sugar cookie recipe. This is the same recipe I used to create my whimsical donut-shaped sugar cookies.
After preparing the dough, I rolled it with a rolling pin (and on my trusty silicone rolling mat, of course!) I then cut the dough into hearts with a scalloped heart cookie cutter.
The frosting I whipped up is a simple vanilla frosting, colored with my favorite gel food coloring in pink and red. Then, I finished off this batch of Valentine treats with a sprinkling of Wilton Valentine sprinkles. (There are SO MANY fun Valentine’s Day sprinkles available these days—it really is a baker’s paradise! I especially love these little rose-shaped sprinkles, this all-pink option, and this pink and purple mix.)
These Valentine’s Day sugar cookies are simple to make and delicious to eat. They’re also ideal for gifting, especially if packaged in a Valentine-themed cello bag and decorated with a big red ribbon bow. The perfect Valentine’s Day treat!
These Valentine’s Day sugar cookies also gave me the chance to work on my photography skills. I shot these photographs in natural light, on a marble surface, using my Nikon D3400:
